Wizard of Oz: Artistic Design Team Applications!

If you have a desire to be a part of the ARTISTIC DESIGN TEAM for Wizard of Oz, here's your chance! 

Take a look at the application questions below, fill them out for the position you're interested in, and send them back to Miss Struiksma at linze.struiksma@canyonsdistrict.org by August 1st! Those holding these positions will receive 2 complimentary tickets for their hard work and dedication, a shout-out in the program, and a lot of thank-yous from Miss Struiksma and Mrs. Barker! COSTUME DESIGNER

Have you been involved with Alta Theatre before, and if so, in what way?
What experience do you have with costume design? (Don’t hesitate to apply if this is minimal!)
Why do you want to be a part of this show? Why do you feel you would be a good fit for this position?
With this position, you would be required to meet with Ms. Struiksma once before school starts, and then a few times during the first month of musical rehearsals to talk concept and progress - these meetings may also happen with the show’s Assistant Director. Additionally, you would have to do a certain amount of research about costuming for this show and hit certain deadlines of getting pieces together. You would need to be able to make calls directly to rental places, parents, etc. and speak with adults as an Alta Theatre Representative. You need to plan an extra 1-2 hours of work a week outside of rehearsal time for fittings, picking up costumes, etc. Do you feel like you could fulfill these tasks in an effective and timely manner?

With this position, you would be required to meet with Ms. Struiksma once before school starts, and then a few times during the first month of musical rehearsals to talk concept and progress - these meetings may also happen with the show’s Assistant Director. Additionally, you would have to do a certain amount of research about set design for this show and hit certain deadlines of getting set pieces completed. You may need to be able to make calls directly to hardware or rental places, parents, etc. and speak with adults as an Alta Theatre Representative. You need to plan an extra 2-3 hours of work a week outside of rehearsal time for building, painting, teaching technicians to bring your ideas to life, problem solving, etc. Do you feel like you could fulfill these tasks in an effective and timely manner?


HAIR & MAKEUP DEISGN

What experience do you have with hair & makeup design? (Don’t hesitate to apply if this is minimal!)
Why do you want to be a part of this show?
Why do you feel you would be a good fit for this position?
With this position, you would be required to meet with Ms. Struiksma once before school starts, and then a few times during the second month of musical rehearsals to talk concept and progress - these meetings may also happen with the show’s Assistant Director. Additionally, you would have to do a certain amount of research about hair/makeup designs for this show and hit certain deadlines of getting drawing finished and presented. You may need to be able to make calls directly to stage makeup places, parents, etc. and speak with adults as an Alta Theatre Representative. You need to plan an extra 1-2 hours of work a week after school during the first three weeks of November to teach some techniques to actors and demonstrate ideas. You may need to be there for an hour and a half before each show performance to help with hair and makeup too. Do you feel like you could fulfill these tasks in an effective and timely manner?

Why do you feel you would be a good fit for this position?
With this position, you would be required to meet with Ms. Struiksma once before school starts, and then a few times during the first month of musical rehearsals to talk concept and progress - these meetings may also happen with the show’s Assistant Director. Additionally, you would have to do a certain amount of research about lighting design for this show and hit certain deadlines of getting lighting plots and set-up completed. You may need to be able to make calls directly to lighting or tech places, parents, etc. and speak with adults as an Alta Theatre Representative. You need to plan an extra 2-3 hours of work a week outside of rehearsal time during October/November for lighting cues, setting lights, adjusting colors, problem solving, etc. You also will be required to run lights for the show itself and rehearsals leading up to the performances, three weeks out. Do you feel like you could fulfill these tasks in an effective and timely manner?

With this position, you would be required to meet with Ms. Struiksma a few times during the first month of musical rehearsals to talk concept and progress - these meetings may also happen with the show’s Assistant Director. Additionally, you would have to do a certain amount of research about sound design for this show and hit certain deadlines of getting sound effects chosen and mixed appropriately. You may need to be able to make calls directly to sound or rental places, parents, etc. and speak with adults as an Alta Theatre Representative. You need to plan an extra 1-2 hours of work a week outside of rehearsal time for setting cues, mixing sounds, problem solving, etc. You also will be required to run sound for the show itself and rehearsals leading up to the performances, three weeks out. Do you feel like you could fulfill these tasks in an effective and timely manner?
