Play That Goes Wrong - Callback List

 To everyone who auditioned:

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for a fantastic afternoon of auditions!  As always, I'm so impressed by your bravery, kindness, and talent.  You all are truly making this a difficult casting puzzle (which is all any director can ask for).  As a reminder, if you are not on the callback list, that doesn't necessarily mean that you haven't been cast in the show.  Everyone should check the blog again tomorrow (Thursday) night for the final cast list.

For those who are called back: Callbacks will begin promptly at 2:45 pm tomorrow (Thursday), in the Little Theatre.  Plan to be here until 6 pm - you may be released earlier.  You are welcome to come in right after school.  PLEASE WEAR MOVEMENT/WORKOUT CLOTHES AND SNEAKERS FOR CALLBACKS!!!  Be prepared for improv exercises, cold reads, movement activities, monologue work - or any combination thereof!

Murder Mystery 2025 Tickets & Parent/Guardian Food Sign-Ups

12/4 Edit: I know that the link wasn't working for lots of folks yesterday even if you were on a computer.  An updated link was created that should work better and I've updated the link in the original post so it SHOULD work now.  I'm not sure if it's mobile compatible - fingers crossed.  Thank you for your patience and hopefully this is better!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

 Hi everyone!

We are so excited to announce that tickets for our annual Murder Mystery Improv show are LIVE HERE!!!  Please note that this link is currently not compatible as a mobile link so you HAVE to access it on a computer. There are only 102 tickets available for each show so get them ASAP!!!  Shows are at 5:00 and 7:30 pm on 12/12 in the Little Theatre.

Parent/guardians - the Murder Mystery is our department's BIGGEST fundraiser of the year and we couldn't pull this off without your help!  The biggest support that we need is with food purchases.  Our department budget takes care of costumes, set and prop pieces, decorations, and plates and table settings so food is where we need your help!  Please, please, please sign up to help us create this magical night!  Access the Google Doc to sign up HERE.

We are able to complete reimbursements for your food purchases (up to a certain amount) if needed.  If your purchase is able to be a donation, we are incredibly appreciative! If you do need to request a reimbursement, please send images of receipts along with parent/guardian's name, address, and phone number to lindsey.cline@canyonsdistrict.org by noon on 12/15.

We are so excited for you to see this KILLER Improv Show!!!

The Play That Goes Wrong Audition Packets and Info!!!

Congratulations to our UHSMTA nominees and our Murder Mystery folks on a wonderful first rehearsal day.  And we are also quickly approaching auditions for The Play That Goes Wrong!!!

I am so, so excited for this show and excited to see your work at auditions!

Please carefully go through the Audition Packet - linked HERE.  Printed packets will be available on the Little Theatre callboard this week and the QR code to sign up for auditions will be up on the callboard on Wednesday.  Please see below for several key things about our production and audition process:

1.  BRING ALL REQUIRED PAPERWORK TO YOUR AUDITION - this paperwork is specified in the audition packet and includes your Q1 final grades and current Q2 grades.  Do not forget your grades.  Part of the preparation that I'm looking for is that you have your paperwork prepared and with you.

2. You will audition in groups of 3 - similar to how musical auditions work.  You will come into the Little Theatre with 2 other people and you will each have a turn to perform your monologue.  You will leave as a group once everyone is done, then the next group of 3 will come in.

3. Please prepare a 30 - 60 second monologue in the style of the show (not from the show itself).

4. We will perform with British and Cockney dialects.  You are encouraged to audition with one of those dialects but not required.  If you're asked to attend callbacks, I will ask you to use those dialects.

5. If you are asked to attend callbacks, please wear workout clothes/clothes that you can move in - not professional/typical audition attire.  I would still love to see professional dress for initial auditions.

6. I've had several great questions about how casting will work.  Please see below for how I'll be proceeding with casting for this production:

We will have 2 casts of actors for the following characters

(cast names - Spies and Peter Pan):

Annie - Stage Manager (fem)

Trevor/Taylor - Lights and sound booth (any)

Chris/Christine - Inspector (any)

Jonathan - Charles (masc)

Robert/Rachel - Colleymore (any)

Dennis/Denis - Perkins (any)

Max - Cecil and Arthur (masc)

Sandra - Florence (fem)

We will also have a group of 3 Actor/Techs who will help the

floor techs run the show and will be seen several times

throughout the show, including the on-stage pre-show.

This group of actors will NOT be double cast.

We will have a final group of 4 House & Lobby Actors

who will stage "goes wrong shenanigans" for the

lobby and house before the show and during intermission.

This group of actors will NOT be double cast.

I encourage you to become familiar with this show by looking up youtube clips or searching for a PDF of the script online.

Dates at a glance:
