Region Dinner: Parent Help Needed!

I am in need of 4-5 parents willing to help sell pizza slices, chips, candy and soda on the evening of Region Theatre at Alta High School - March 19th. We typically sell everything for $1 and it's really easy and a great way to support the students as they compete. I will pre-order pizza and have already obtained snacks, treats, and drinks so it would mean setting out the goodies and someone picking up the pizzas from Costco and then bringing them to Alta as Cline and I (Struiks) will be running/hosting the competition. Then, you would stay through dinner time 5:30-7:15pm to sell the food to all schools.

If you are willing to sell or pick up pizzas please email me ASAP and a sincere and advanced Thank You! Afterward you would be free to leave or stay and watch the awards ceremony with our team. Please reach out if you can help!

Hadestown Set and Costume Help - Needed ASAP!

If you have yet to hear, the musical for our Fall 2025 season is...... HADESTOWN!

We are exceptionally excited about this show and can't wait to get started.

That said, we are need of a parent or two with a truck to get some large barrels and costume boxes from Hillcrest High School.  I can only fit a few of the costume needs in my car, so it would help immensly to have a BIG truck or two medium trucks. We would schedule a time in the next two weeks that works for you and the teacher at Hillcrest and then you would bring them back to Alta High School and myself and some students can help with unload.

If there is ANYONE who has a little time this OR next week, we can coordinate a time and make it happen.  Please email me (Struiks) ASAP: linze.struiksma@canyonsdistrict.org

Let's make Hadestown happen!

Parent Region IE help needed!

Hello wonderful parents!

We are in need of a few helping hands to help pick up and sell some pizza for us on March 18th.  We would sell for all of the schools coming to Region Competition as a fundraiser, but also as a way to FEED the masses when they are constantly competing.  I told them we could buy chips, candy, sodas, and waters ahead and then pick up Costco Pizza the night of the event. I would like to sell between 5:30-7:30pm, so we would need to preorder pizzas earlier that week and pick them up around 5pm. I DO have a Costco card for pick up if needed, but if there are any out there who have one, that would be ideal and easiest.

If any of you are available and willing, I would love to find 4-6 parents to help!  Please send me an email and we can coordinate... thank you in advance!

"Mean Girls" Finalized Calendar and Updates!

 Hey Team,

Here are some reminders for our "Mean Girl" cast, plus the updated calendar!  First a reminder that fees are due Friday, September 22nd by 2:45pm.  Please have things in on time!  You will pay the fees in one of two ways.

1) Bring a check or cash to the main office and they will deposit it - then bring the receipt to the Green Room in the PAC and put it in the envelope on the Call Board.

2) OR, pay the fee on Skyward (it should show up by tomorrow on there) and print the receipt - bring the receipt to the Green Room in the PAC and put it in the envelope on the Call Board.

Next, below are pictures of our updated calendar.  Every student went home with one on Monday, but there are a few extra hardcopies on the Call Board in the Green Room of the PAC.  Please THOROUGHLY review the dates and times and be sure you are present and ON TIME when you are called.  If there are questions, shoot them to me ASAP - otherwise, I expect you to know the calendar.

Remember to be practicing the music as we learn it and that we may conduct little pop-up quizzes to be sure you're solid.  This is not said to scare you, but to let you know you are expected to be on top of music... since it's a MUSICal. ;) If you want access to the "Mean Girls" tracks to practice with please google MTI Player, click on it, and scroll to the bottom of that page.  Plug in the code MEA2125694 and you're set!

Dance will be uploaded as we record them, so check back for a link to that google file.  We are so excited to begin this production's journey with you!  Here's to an incredible and FETCH experience! :)

Parent Help: Truck of Trailer Needed for a Pickup!

Hey Team!

I am in need of a parent or student to help with pickup needs for "Mean Girls" materials.  I will be ordering a bunch of wood for building the end of next week from Home Depot, but my car is way to small to load anything. I also need to pick up some rotating chairs from Corner Canyon sometime next week - I will have measurements on those shortly.  If you are able and willing in the next two weeks sometime to help with these pick-ups, please send me an email and let me know your availability over the next two weeks.

Email: linze.struiksma@canyonsdistrict.org

I appreciate you a ton!

 - Linze Struiksma ("Struiks")

P.S. Audition Packets will be up on here and in the PAC Green Room next week!

Region Theatre Competition Help Needed!

I am looking for 3-4 parents who are available on the evening of March 23rd to help sell food (pizza, candy, chips, and soda/water only) for our Region Competition. Lindsey and I will be running around hosting, but would have everything set up for you ahead of time and s student runner to help. We are hosting and I want to provide options for kids from all of the schools to purchase food since they will be there all night. I would need someone willing to grab a bunch of pizzas from Little Caesar's around 5:00pm (already paid for - just need grabbed) and then some to sell pizza and those other few items from about 5:30-7:15pm. Then, you could head home or sneak into the awards ceremony. 🙂 Let me know if you are willing and available - thank you so much!

Shakespeare Paper Work

 Hi Parents and Students,

Below are the papers you will need to print and have completed by 2:45pm on September 20th to be able to attend the Shakespeare Festival Trip.  Remember that you need to have the medical form NOTARIZED (banks can do this) and attach a copy of the child's insurance card info.  Also, a reminder that ALL fees ($389.00) are due to the main office by September 16th (next Friday).  NO EXCEPTIONS.  I have to finalize all payments that weekend.

I apologize the scanner here is being weird, and so they are JPEGs of the papers, but they work exactly the same.  I will have a detailed and finalized schedule once we are given competition times, which is typically the week before.  It is highly similar to the one I handed out at the Parent Meeting.  Please email me with any further questions.

Covid-Testing Update

Here is the update from the administration team:

"The link is only working periodically right now. I think the state system crashed when the parents of all students in all extracurricular events in all high schools in Utah attempted to log in and complete it.

Worst case, we will just collect the paper forms I sent you before the first round of testing."

So, you can either continue to try the site here and it should pop up eventually (though that seems like an annoying feat):

OR you can print out the following document, sign and complete it and have your student come drop it to me tomorrow or Monday:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1sVfboIa1QS4O_hPtvm9FepEtEVYZwOxY/view?usp=sharing

That seems a better option. :)  Thanks for the patience and thanks for all who have already filled out the parent form - if you haven't yet, we ask that you please do that now.

Little Mermaid Rehearsal Calendar

Here is the link to the Little Mermaid Rehearsal Calendar's Final Draft:

<iframe src="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1sPKdUjqCShz3ArWhIBiOWONy-Qd8ctox/preview" width="640" height="480"></iframe>

Final this year will attempt to be a solid term, but needs to be met with flexibility.  This is a year where things are a little up in the air and we must be adaptable.  I will do my BEST to adhere to this schedule, but I ask that you check the blog (students, the remind) daily for updates in case we need to switch something around.  Thank you for your understanding and patience with this!

Remember that tomorrow night (WEDNESDAY the 2ND) we have the Parent Meeting at 6PM SHARP and at least one parent or guardian will be required to attend as there are some legal and health matters we need to discuss this year and paperwork we have to have signed.  This meeting will take place online and the google meet/zoom link will be posted on here by 5pm tomorrow evening.  It should not take more than 20-30 minutes max.  So excited to talk with you all about the show!
