Last Minute Addams Family Audition Info

 Happy Addams Family audition week!

It was great seeing everyone who was able to attend the workshop yesterday and shout out to Council for organizing and running a great afternoon!

A couple of reminders for your audition:

1. Make sure that you bring your sheet music, grades, audition form, and conflict form to your audition.

2. If you are interested in being considered for Assistant Director, please indicate that on your audition form.  The AD will play a crucial role in helping me with the production and rehearsal process.  They will help with tech as well as performance aspects, including having the opportunity to block and direct 1-2 scenes of the show.  Assistant Directors are very important in our productions here at Alta, and we couldn't make our shows happen without them!

3. If you haven't signed up for an audition time yet, please go to https://linktr.ee/altahightheatre to do so ASAP.

4. Be on time!  I recommend being here and ready for your singing and dance audition 10 minutes before the actual time.

5. HAVE FUN!!!  I'm so excited to see your auditions - slay!

Final Cast List Shakespeare Team 2022: Master of Your Liberty

A huge thank you to all who auditioned for this year's Shakespeare Team! I am so proud of how many of you have shown so much growth in the past year. The final cast list for our Shakespeare is posted below. Wasatch Savings Books! FUNDRAISING!

To all parents and students in the theatre department -

Whether you have class fees (Theatre 3, 4, Stage Tech), sweater fees, production fees, trip fees (Shakespeare) we have created a beginning of the year fundraiser for those things.  The money made MUST go to something in the theatre department and is nontransferable.  Every year, we allow students to sell Wasatch Savings Books and people love them!  They sell like hot cakes!

They are 2-for-1 and free coupon books that are all on an app.  You get a mini pamphlet with an activation code and access to thousands of dollars in savings for food, activities, hair-cuts, events, etc. We are currently letting you know the fundraiser is beginning NOW as we are one of the first schools to get them this year, so students can beat out others and sell first. Each book is $30 and when you turn in the money for it, you will be credited half!  That's $15 of each book going into YOUR account to pay for theatre needs.  You simply, sell the book, take the full amount of money to the office and ask them to put it into the Theatre Wasatch Savings Account, and bring Miss Struiksma the receipt - she will then separate out your $15 into your account.  You let HER know which fee you would like to pay with that money (or have it go toward) and she will write that into your account notes.

My suggestion is to check out ONE book, show friends and family, get their money for the books and then pick up the books upon turning in your receipt to Miss Struiksma.  When you check out a book YOU are responsible for the amount ($30 per book) if it gets stolen or lost.  That is why I suggest grabbing ONE and then getting the others once things are paid for in full.  If you have questions, please EMAIL Miss Struiksma at linze.struiksma@canyonsdistrict.org and she will get back to you within 24 hours on weekdays, 48 hours on weekends.

Free money is great, so don't sleep on this opportunity!  Pick up a book today and get selling!

Students can pick them up after school any day in the next few weeks.  This fundraiser will run until September 23rd and then will close and be finalized.  Get sellin'!

Addams Family Audition Packet!!!

Hi everyone!

Here is a link to the audition packet, form, and tentative rehearsal calendar for The Addams Family! You can get a paper copy of the packet in the green room (PAC) or Cline's room (2313) starting tomorrow as well as outside the choir room beginning next week.

Link:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/11b041fHaZKwFGFCOpcSpubXowps0sydzMRHpRAdKcJg/edit

Please read through this information COMPLETELY and CAREFULLY with your parent/guardian and make sure that you have ALL of the required paperwork for your audition on Aug. 31st or Sept. 1st. You'll sign up for an audition time using the QR code in the packet. (If you don't see an Addams Family audition sheet when you scan the QR code, please go through the packet, start working on your audition material, and check back over the next day or two for the sign up sheet!)

You should prepare 16 bars (measures) of a song in the style of the show for your audition. You must bring sheet music for the accompanist and it is HIGHLY recommended that you be memorized. Come prepared to support each other and show off your hard work, preparation, and talent! There will be a dance portion of the audition after the singing portion. Please find the complete details in the packet, including the tentative rehearsal schedule.

We are SO excited to see your auditions and begin working on this fun show! Feel free to email me with any questions.

Shakespeare Ensemble Audition Packet 2022

Hey all!

Here is a link to the FULL packet with most of the paperwork for the trip to review before signing on to the trip. The only thing missing is the medical form to be notarized as this will be handed out after casting at the mandatory Parent Meeting on September 7th @6pm.

LINK: https://docs.google.com/document/d/12x9BsSKMG7VFRidQEghS3mSMIkB3aWwcsUFfcTE1mkg/edit?usp=sharing

Sidenote: This has been a question - students not on Shakespeare Team CAN go on the trip if there are spots left on the bus/in rooms. They must also be enrolled in a theatre class, pay the fees, complete the forms, and agree to behave in a manner that represents Alta Theatre Department. We invite those unable to do team to still come explore and celebrate the work of Shakespeare! If you would like to go on the trip, and are NOT on team, I need to know by September 2nd and receive an email from your parent affirming they are okay with your participation and willing to pay the trip fee in full.

To get started, look for a monologue that you really feel you can get behind. You can find a good list of monologues at https://www.bard.org/competition under the Shakespeare Scene Resources section or at https://www.shakespeare-monologues.org/home. I look forward to seeing you on the 23rd!

*** We have a chance for anyone to workshop their monologues with some of our upper class-men before auditions on August 22nd from 2:30-3:30pm in the PAC Green Room – just show up and we’ll give you someone to work with and some tips! :)

Hard-copies of the packet will be posted on the call-board outside of the green room in the PAC the first day of school – please go over things with your parents. It is the same information as in the link above. All who are on team get to and must perform in Night of Shakespeare on September 28th and attend/fund the trip to Cedar City for competition Sept. 29th-October 1st. Rehearsals will begin on the 25th and 26th of August from 2:30-5pm and then be most days after school at 5pm-7pm, with times beginning earlier closer to competition. We are excited to see what y’all prepare for us and are stoked to get the show on its feet! 🎭 Feel free to email me with any questions!
