Hadestown - Performance Tracks, Contact Sheet Link, and Final Calendar

 Hey all!

Here is some crucial information about Hadestown reeharsals - please read through the entire message!

First, I have been given a link to the music tracks we are using for the show and have a way for you to access them.  When you access them, please only do so through ONE home or school device. The code can only be used a certain number of times and I don't want anyone locked out because someone logged in on three devices. Here is the code to log in and instructions on how to do so:

Organization: (CSD UT) Alta High School - UT

Viewer Code (Authorization): SCARY-VERSED-HAKE-CAKES-BLENDS-PERT

  1. Download Show|Ready to your computer or mobile device. We always recommend downloading the most recent version. You can download the Show|Ready app on their computer or mobile device. The app is available on iOS or Android.
  2. Activate your Show|Ready license using the viewer code.
  3. Dive into the Show|Ready User Manual IF there are any questions.

Second, here is the link to the contact sheet again in case you have not yet filled this out.  I need it completed by September 5th!

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1LL_2QqNwNk71WM9hs3BAWae-EgebXUL9JiHc0cFC064/edit?usp=sharing

Below is the final calendar link.  Where it is marked TBD it means that we do NOT currently know times and will know as the dates draw closer.  I will work to communicate as soon as possible when we are around those times and have students send home texts as needed in plenty of time to communicate. Otherwise, I will work very hard to stick to these dates and times - please double check and triple check the calendar so no unexcused absences happen. Remember if you miss a day you have ONE WEEK to learn what you missed if you want to stay in that number - be ready to check it off!

Also, Ensemble Teams are listed below - please double check for your name!

Hadestown Callback List

A huge thank you to everyone involved in auditions this week! I know how vulnerable and intimidating it can be to audition for a production/casting crew and I am exceptionally proud of each of you in that bravery.

Below will be the callback list - please be aware that if you are NOT listed, it does not mean you are not in the final cast.  Please check back tomorrow night at 10pm for the final cast list for Hadestown.  If you would like feedback about your audition, please ask me AFTER the long weekend. :)

If you are on the Dance Callback List, please be READY TO GO in the auditorium by 1:30pm tomorrow (August 29th).  We will begin with this, but we don't need to see everyone else quite yet.

If you are on the callback list for Featured Singers or Named Characters, please meet in the Auditorium of the PAC at 2:30pm SHARP tomorrow (Friday, August 29th) ready to sing and act.  I would suggest you vocally warm-up before that time.  We will go through Featured Singer needs first and then named characters. The PAC will be open beginning at 1:15pm so you can use the green room or makeup room (or lobby) to warm up. Break legs tomorrow, y'all!

PLEASE READ THE WHOLE LIST AND MESSAGE!

Here is a list of the songs and time stamps:

Hades - Hey, Little Songbird (0:20-1:20) and Why We Build the Wall ending (3:20-end) and the others called back can sing the other parts... it'll show us the depth under the character.

Persephone - Our Lady of the Underground (0:50- 2:10) or Livin' it Up (0:38-2:03).

Eurydice - Flowers (1:28-2:14) and we can do All I've Ever Known (at 2:25-2:48) for when Orpheus and her sing together.

Orpheus Wait for Me (2:48 through the end and then accapella "La la la's" or with a little piano help). Then, the duet part of All I've Ever Known listed above.

Fates - all of Nothing Changes.... be prepared to sing numerous parts.

With featured singers: The echos of Hades in Why We Build the Wall AND a small part of Chant Reprise - this would be the start to about 1:10.

Hermes-
Hermes - Way Down Hadestown (the beginning of the song till about 1:20 in before the dance break) and then Road to Hell Reprise (they start about 30 second in, so there until 2:05) - we can speed it up a bit, but honestly I think that is mostly accapella and will show us killer acting and intention.

Please know that if I need to add something as a cold read, I reserve that right - I do plan to potentially do a few improv scenarios for some named characters if needed. Otherwise, I suggest you become familiar with the songs and lyrics - we will have music copies there to look through starting at 1:30pm and for the audition itself to hold.  I will have 8-10 copies of everything!

SO excited for tomorrow - do your best and know we are rooting for you!!!

** Also, if you do NOT wish to attend callbacks for any of the parts listed and I missed that on your sheet, please just send me an email. Thank you!

Shakespeare Reminders - 2025

 Hi everyone!

Please find reminders from our first team meeting in this blog post as well as the updated script HERE that differentiates between Player and Character lines and also indicates which Henry V scene each piece of text is from.  Knowing the scenes will be especially helpful for paraphrasing your lines into normal speech.  Actors need to have completed their paraphrase by next Friday.  Printed copies will be provided to all actors on Sept. 4

- The trip fee of $446.00 has been applied to your Skyward accounts.  Fees are due at 3:00 pm on Sept. 16th.

- We are doing the Wasatch fundraiser again this year so that you can offset your fees.  Each book costs $37, with $17.50 going back to the student.  The process of turning in fundraiser money was detailed in our meeting and we will go back over it at the Parent/Guardian meeting.  If you have questions AT ALL, please see Cline.

- Fundraiser receipts are due to Cline by 3 pm on Sept. 14th.

- If you are participating in the fundraiser, please DO NOT pay the fee BEFORE you submit your fundraiser receipt.  It is difficult and time-consuming for the office ladies to go through the process of refunding you money.

- Updated calendars will be available at the end of this week on the blog and printed out on the callboard of the Little Theatre.

- Room sign-ups will be posted on the Little Theatre callboard next week.

- Players 1-4 and DM are called from 5 - 6:30 pm on Tuesday, Sept. 2.  6:30 - 7:00 pm will be rehearsal time for IE folks.  IEs, if you'd like to arrive at 6:00 then you can look through items upstairs in the Little Theatre.

- Wednesday, Sept. 3 is the MANDATORY parent/guardian meeting at 6 pm in the PAC.

- Thursday, Sept. 4 is our Challenge Round day, everyone on Shakespeare Team is called.

As always, please reach out to Cline with any questions.  For everyone participating in Hadestown auditions this week, break legs!

Hadestown Set and Costume Help - Needed ASAP!

If you have yet to hear, the musical for our Fall 2025 season is...... HADESTOWN!

We are exceptionally excited about this show and can't wait to get started.

That said, we are need of a parent or two with a truck to get some large barrels and costume boxes from Hillcrest High School.  I can only fit a few of the costume needs in my car, so it would help immensly to have a BIG truck or two medium trucks. We would schedule a time in the next two weeks that works for you and the teacher at Hillcrest and then you would bring them back to Alta High School and myself and some students can help with unload.

If there is ANYONE who has a little time this OR next week, we can coordinate a time and make it happen.  Please email me (Struiks) ASAP: linze.struiksma@canyonsdistrict.org

Let's make Hadestown happen!

Shakespeare Rehearsal Calendar

 Hi again!

I realized that I'd forgotten to add the Shakes rehearsal calendar to the last page of the packet (available in the previous post), so I'm including it HERE.

Hard copy packets were sent to our awesome library ladies last week, so I'm hopeful that they will be available for me to put on the callboard tomorrow.

A detailed calendar will be provided to team members on Monday, Aug. 25!  Thanks everyone - excited to see you soon!

Shakespeare Ensemble Team Packet and Auditions!

Hi everyone!  Two blog posts in one day - it's the most wonderful time of the year: Fall audition season at ALTA!!!

Struiks and I are SO excited to start working with you on the incredible theatre season that we have this year!  You've just heard from her about Hadestown, so now I get to tell you about Shakespeare Ensemble Auditions!  (Yes, I've ended each sentence with exclamation points because I am legit excited!)

As a reminder, the concept for our Shakespeare Ensemble scene this year is war strategy and warfare (yes stage combat) meets Dungeons & Dragons.  Our scene utilizes pieces of text from Henry V that we will stage as if the action is taking place within a Dungeons & Dragons Campaign - shoutout to Lyndsey Nelson for her incredible work on this script!

Please take a look at the flyer below for dates and times of the audition workshop and the auditions themselves.

Please sign up for an audition time on the callboard in the Little Theatre - (email me if you need help finding that).

You can access the Audition Packet HERE. Printed copies will also be available on the callboard of the Little Theatre the first week of school.

For your audition, you'll need a 40-60 second Shakespeare monologue.  You'll also need to bring pages 7 and 11 (filled out and signed) from the packet, and a print out of your grades from last semester.

As always, please email me (Cline) with any questions: lindsey.cline@canyonsdistrict.org

Hadestown Audition Packet and Info!

Hello all -
