Act Two Notes from 11/11

ALL
  • Nice timing with breaks out of dance numbers 
  • The wall must move before the box and rack on stage left AND BE ON SPIKES
  • Don’t make it clear that you messed up
  • Pacing
  • Set pieces need to be on spikes
  • Bend and twist and avoid straight lines
  • Group pictures need to be cheated out as a whole
  • Fill the gaps and spaces with reactions and character
Addie
  • Bite on “I thought I could go home” line (after guard says wizard won’t see anyone)
  • Nice reaction to Kenna’s faint
  • Only said “Oh no!” during jitterbug, try different things
  • Face in Jitterbug
  • Run to the curtain and kind of push toto offstage then say “he got away from you”
  • Keep being on the upstage side of the bench in witch’s castle
  • Be sad when you realize “there’s nothing in that bag for me is there”
  • Try using the stairs when yelling for the professor to come back
  • Kiss on scarecrow’s forehead was awkward, he’s too tall - go for the cheek
  • Wait longer to enter in cyclone
  • Overall, really nice character; had a nice youthfulness to it

Sydney P.
  • Enter oz at the end on your hoverboard
  • Move more downstage with Dorothy
  • Play with tactics on, she had to find out for herself
  • You can’t hang out in the house visibly to the audience before you enter
Parker
  • Keep your head up
  • Wear black church shoes for the guard
  • Don’t stand right in front of Dorothy and cheat out
  • When you get the dog for Dorothy, get the same basket that Dorothy was using earlier
Christian
  • When the guard won’t let you in, your Dorothy line is a realization of name-dropping will probably work 
  • Nice thinking of plan 
  • Bite on “why didn’t you tell her before”
  • PACING
Nate
  • If you’re already down when everyone kneels, stay down
  • Let go of the rope when Christian drops it
Kenna
  • Face out more on king of the forest
  • Bite on first courage sentence more
  • Bite on permanent line
  • Look out on “talk me out of it”
  • Bite on sitiation line
  • “Stay with us Dorothy” line was a little creepy

Heather
  • Hat on hour glass looked nice
  • Bite on the Ks in niKKo
  • Pull your mic bac from your face
  • Bite on pleasant flight
  • Lots and lots of practice was nice and sad
  • When you replace the hourglass after flipping it, put it at the front of the table
  • Is the sleeve causing problems for entrances?
Jordan
  • Get nervous in wizard’s chamber when they refuse to come back tomorrow
  • Bite diploma line
  • Watch cadence and weird pauses
  • Bite on “like an ostrich egg”
General leads
  • Nice “Seeing” the city
  • Move through the gate A LOT QUICKER
  • Come farther downstage for “Merry old land of Oz”
  • ‘f SHE
  • Don’t stand in front of each other 
  • Nice hustle from wizards chamber to emerald city 
  • Quartet sing “Watch out for that bug”
  • React when the witch comes near you
  • Dance is looking a lot better!!!

Ensemble
  • Have black character shoes and tights by Monday (If not tights, leggings and black socks)
  • Some still look uncertain while dancing
  • First group of girls need to run their dance 
  • Do not touch the periaktoids
  • Bring the chairs out sooner (Tinman)
  • At the end (with the hands) continue to vocalize
  • Hahaha movements need to be WAY bigger
  • Those with lines project
  • Winkies leave after the dance
  • Crowds around the door need to be more open
  • Alyssa, nice choice trying to go through the door anyway
  • Dancers in king of the forest had weird spacing
  • Emma, nice knocking over winkies
  • Abbey C and Ashleigh had nice facial expressions
  • Emma, be more scared of heather
  • Good entrance three winkies
  • Winkies should each grab  one of the trio people
  • Sing into the mics for winkies (backstage)
  • Winkies, if you have an undershirt underneath your black shirt, tuck it in
  • If you go on to move something off, and you go on with nothing, take on something that hasn’t been moved on yet and then take off whatever you take off (If taking something on does not interfere with taking the item off)
  • Winkies had nice character when transitioning out of the Wizard’s chamber
  • If the broom is still on stage, pick it up
  • Kansas transition
  • The color flowers on the fence bases face out
  • Fences were not on spike
D.C.
  • Thank you for sweeping up the hay
  • Nice faces
  • Great vocalization, but add some more
  • During the freezes EXCELLENT facial expressions
Monkeys

  • Kenedy, when you leave, move behind the periaktoid so we can’t see you crouching
  • Wait until the end of jitterbug to move onto the stage
  • Still sing louder
  • Exit the witch’s castle sooner
  • Kenedy, thank you for pretending to move the haybale
